Renewed Or Cancelled?
Moon Knight is the latest MCU series on Disney+, one that takes the enigmatic Moon Knight character and brings it to the small screen. This 6 episode action thriller has been quite the rollercoaster ride over the weeks but now that the series has ended, you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled.
What is Moon Knight Season 1 about?
Moon Knight is based on the comic series of the same name and centers on Steven Grant, a man who finds his life turned upside down. Suffering from blackouts and strange occurrences, he’s approached by the Egyptian moon God, Khonshu. Steven has been granted powers, which happens to be both a blessing and a curse. It soon becomes clear that Steven is not alone inside his head, as the blackouts are explained through another personality wrestling for control – Marc. With the maniacal Harrow determined to free Amit from his tomb, Steven and Marc try to stop him before it’s too late.
Has Moon Knight been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, Disney+ has not renewed Moon Knight for season 2. Given the respectable ratings over the weeks, it’ll be interesting to see if they actually do renew this for a follow-up. Since Marvel have recently announced their slate of shows and movies over the next few years, it’s fair to say that a second season of Moon Knight is not in the company’s immediate line of sight. Combatting that though is how popular this series has been, especially when you take into consideration Oscar Isaac’s amazing performance as Marc and Steven. There is a possibility that Moon Knight could be renewed. However, given most of these MCU Marvel shows have wrapped up their stories in a single season – we predict that Moon Knight will not be renewed. We’ll be sure to update this section with more details as they become available.
What we know about season 2 so far:
Barely anything is known about season 2 at this point, given Disney+ have not green-lit a sequel. However, there is always the possibility that the actors return for a follow-up or even a spin-off. In a recent interview with Radio Times, Oscar Isaac was quoted as saying: “I think we approached it as ‘this is the story’, and let’s just put everything out on the table on this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is.” (You can read his full thoughts in this eye-opening interview here!) For now though, we’re under the impression that there will not be a season 2 but we will aim to update this page when more information becomes available.
