The duo is attacked by a creature made up of tree husk and roots with Su-ryeon being inside the creature. Su-ryeon is here to get her revenge and turns to harm Mi-ho instead. Yohan manages to protect Mi-ho but ends up being captured by the creature. The creature chokes Yohan and is about to harm Mi-ho when Ban appears out of nowhere to save her. The creature flees after Ban’s attack and Mi-ho thanks him for saving her while Yohan hangs by the branches being choked as the two talks. She asks Ban to help her save Su-ryeon but he declines from letting her pay for her own mistakes. Yohan is choking and asking for help but the two ignore him and have their banter about causality and ethics. All of a sudden, Yohan yells out loud and Ban uses his sword to snap the twigs open to release Yohan. Mi-ho calls Ban a coward but the creature returns in the meantime. Ban fights it off and Yohan suddenly starts hunting it down too using a long sword of his own. Despite the two men fighting it, Su-ryeon manipulates the creature so that both Yohan and Ban are compromised and trapped from leaving the tree husk. Su-ryeon also captures Mi-ho using the creature. She tells Mi-ho that she had surrendered her body to Benjulle in order to get revenge on her boyfriend. When the creature is about to kill Mi-ho, Ban unleashes his inner demon and uses his full power to help Mi-ho. Mi-ho tries to protect Su-ryeon in the process and tries to distract her from getting her revenge with Benjulle’s help. She promises to help her seek revenge on her ex and asks her to give up on the spirit. Su-ryeon agrees and Mi-h tries to get her outside of the clutches of the creature. Just then, the creature starts clutching Su-ryeon and tries to kill her when a sudden golden light flashes. Mi-ho wakes up in Ban’s arms with Su-ryeon on the ground. Yohan finds Su-ryeon and tries to wake her up. She is unconscious so Ban uses his magic to make a portal between the forest and her bedroom to get her back home safely. Just as they are about to leave, Mi-ho passes out in Ban’s arms. Ban takes Mi-ho to the hospital and Ban is waiting for her to wake up. Once she is awake, she asks Ban about the Benjulle. Ban explains that the spirit was never this vicious in the past and adds that the lust demon must have corrupted Benjulle. Mi-ho is shocked to learn that the demon-possessed Benjulle and Su-ryeon in order to get to her. Mi-ho goes to check up on Su-ryeon who is also in the same hospital. She learns that Su-ryeon was comatose and the doctors were not sure what the reason behind her condition was. Mi-ho reassures Su-ryeon’s parents and promises that everything will be okay. Mi-ho is in the lobby, thinking about how the demons were hell-bent on killing her when Yohan finds her. She asks him about his true identity and the young priest reveals that he was here from Italy to investigate something. Mi-ho is worried about bad things happening because of her presence on Jeju Island but Yohan reassures her that she will be okay considering she was a good person at heart. The two start joking about Ban while the demon slayer enjoys a meal at Baek-joo’s restaurant. The old woman is worried that Ban would slip into the demon’s trap if he continues to use their magic to kill them but Ban is certain he won’t let that happen. She asks Ban how the creature possessing Su-ryeon was destroyed and claims that she felt Wonjeong’s energy at the time. Ban leaves after telling her that Benjulle was polluted by the lust demon. Mi-ho is watching Su-ryeon and she is much more adamant about doing something about her ex. She asks Butler Jang to look up information on Gyeong-jun in order to get revenge for Su-ryeon. On the other hand, Giovanni is talking to the priests in Italy informing them that the saviour, Mi-ho (Wonjeong) was awakened for a brief moment and was soon going to reveal herself. He also tells them about Ban who is using the power of the demons but was protecting Mi-ho. The priest on the other end tells Yohan to help awaken the saviour inside Mi-ho and stop focussing on Ban. Yohan sets out to do so by triggering Ban. He asks Ban about what it felt like meeting Mi-ho after he was the one who killed Wonjeong in the first place. Ban threatens to kill Yohan and the young priest backtracks and takes his cue to leave the conversation. That night, Butler Jang informs Mi-ho about Gyeong-jun who was a 22-year-old but was a student at Tamra High School. Butler Jang states that the guy had many other victims like Su-ryeon who he was threatening. He tells Mi-ho that there was no evidence to support these claims against Gyeong-jun because he was the son of an influential person and the boy used an application to text his victims that immediately deleted texts upon viewing leaving no record behind. Mi-ho is frustrated because there was no way to legally expose Gyeong-jun when Butler Jang claims that a way of doing so would be having Mi-ho’s aunt buy the shares of the application. This would give Mi-ho’s company the power to expose the data which Gyeong-jun used to threaten his victims. Everything falls into place and Mi-ho is able to put Gyeong-jun behind bars but as it turns out, the prosecution is only able to punish him with three years in prison. Butler Jang tells Mi-ho that Gyeong-jun was going to visit Su-ryeon for a settlement that day and she shows up at the hospital to see him. Mi-ho runs into Gyeong-jun who is not remorseful in the least about his actions and claims that Su-ryeon was asking for it. Mi-ho loses her calm and beats the boy up right in front of his lawyer. Later that day, Yeom-ji finds Mi-ho in her office and thanks her for her help in punishing Gyeong-jun. Gyeong-jun is back at his house when he is adamant about teaching Mi-ho a lesson by suing her and posting Su-ryeon’s intimate photos online when Benjulle finds him and attacks him. At the same time, Su-ryeon wakes up from her coma. The next day, Baek-joo visits the school and introduces herself to Mi-ho as Yeom-ji’s grandmother. Ban finds her and asks why she was so impatient about seeing Mi-ho. The old woman claims that she had taken care of Wonjeong as a child and wanted to see what she looked like in her reincarnated body. That night, Mi-ho ignores Yohan and runs to find Ban and tells him that Gyeong-jun was killed. She wonders if he was behind the incident but Ban denies any involvement in the matter. Mi-ho hands him a smartphone but he argues that he did not need one. She uses her adamant convincing to coerce Ban into taking the phone and asks him to never ignore any of her calls. She comes back to the house and ends up eating the shrimp croquettes Yohan had set out for himself. Outside, Ban calls Yohan out from where he was hearing his conversation with Mi-ho. Yohan asks Ban about Wonjeong and wonders why he was staying around Mi-ho considering he could possibly kill her again as he did in the past. Ban is about to attack Yohan but he asks for some downtime to warm up first. Yohan unleashes his sword all of a sudden and the two start a sword fight all of a sudden. Yohan leads Ban to the basement and uses multiple blows to attack him with the demon slayer fighting back each time. Unbeknownst to what was happening outside, Mi-ho comes out with some food for Ban to have when she finds them in the abandoned basement. Yohan has captured Ban with magic and he tries to exorcise the demon from the half-human. Things go south for the priest when Ban uses demon power to attack Yohan. However, Mi-ho spots the two and is shocked to see Ban in this state. Ban, who is now possessed by the lust demon runs to Mi-ho and seemingly attacks her with his sword. A flashback shows the last time when a demon-possessed Ban killed Wonjeong as the episode comes to an end.
The Episode Review
I am so confused with this episode as I don’t seem to understand how Yohan and Ban could be pitted against each other if their main goal was to protect Mi-ho ultimately. I am sure Yohan has his doubts about Ban’s authenticity and Ban cannot trust any human because of what was done to him back in the day. The way Ban keeps using the power of the lust demon and the confidence he had in himself, I am sure he did to kill Mi-ho at the end of this episode. It could possible that Mi-ho was being hunted by another demon that Ban noticed first and killed it before it could attack Mi-ho. On a side note, the chaotic energy Mi-ho brings with everyone she interacts with is to die for. Her character, despite the serious situation of the story, brings out fun moments that make the show much more interesting. The episodes are actually pretty fast-paced than a regular K-drama and many details are skipped which makes the story seem rushed. I wish the makers invested more time in narrating the comics in a linear fashion instead of rushing with the execution with a limited 6-episode mini-series.
