No Mourners Episode 8 of Shadow and Bone begins inside the Fold. Darkness consumes the group as they prepare for the inevitable. They’ve passed five markers and thus far no Volcra have attacked. Down in the cabins, Jesper, Kaz and Inej also prepare for what’s to come. Unfortunately Jesper doesn’t have anywhere near enough bullets. Meanwhile, Nina and Matthias make it into Arkesk. Under this facade though Sick Of It is a surprisingly deep series, one that manages to weave some thought provoking themes within its humour, all whilst showing off Karl’s acting range in his dual role....

At the next AA meeting, friends celebrate Sam’s six-month mark of staying sober. There, she opens up to Olivia about her jealousy that her mom is having sex and she isn’t. Olivia says that’s natural. She’s been sober for six months and is starting to feel her body again. She invites Sam to her “sober dance party,” but Sam declines. Staring at James across the room, she declares she has other plans....

The case for this episode is Shawn Phillips. He is claiming damages from Northbrook Aerospace for a crash he was involved in 10 years ago. In the crash, Shawn lost his leg but came out on top of it competing in paralympic sports. Northbrook filed a motion to dismiss and the mother-son duo must do some digging to make sure Shawn does not lose the case and Northbrook pays. Gus Eastern, a familiar face for Margaret represents Northbrook....

Release The Prey Episode 1 of Someone Has To Die begins with Falcon family preparing for their son Gabino returning home. He’s been in Mexico but hasn’t come alone. However, this poses a problem given he’s due to wed a girl called Cayetana. In true soapy Spanish fashion, things aren’t as simple as they seem. Gabino’s friend Lazaro appears to be his lover which throws this entire situation head-first into tense waters....

Following on from the events of the last Marvel film, Civil War, Spiderman: Homecoming brings the focus back to the superhero that started the whole web of superhero films that followed it. A fantastic performance by Tom Holland helps to elevate the film, showing he’s by far the best person to don the spidey suit but some poor character decisions and a cliched ending let it down from being the great Marvel entry it so easily could have been, After a brief opening to set the scene, Homecoming jumps forward 8 years to show a few clips leading up to the events of Civil War in Peter’s perspective before finding Spiderman dumped back in his normal life after his impressive cameo....

Spy x Family Season 1 Episode 7 Spy x Family is the latest anime to hit the early season catalogue and what a wild ride it’s been! Corrupt politicians, warmongering forces and nationalists are the dishes of the day, as our story whisks us off to the neighbouring countries of Ostania and Westalis. In the middle of all this, the story revolves around a spy called Loid, off on an undercover mission who ends up getting married and adopting a child as part of his cover....

Playing Dress-Up Star Trek: Picard returns this week off the back of a stand-alone chapter that added another crew member to find… another episode that doesn’t move things along that quickly. While some of the drama is actually quite good, and the visuals are certainly stunning, the writing is just not up to scratch and the show struggles to really hold its own against some of the better Star Trek series out there....

Ships Have Windows?! For a show that was always about hope, the best of humanity and deep, thought provoking characterisation, Star Trek: Picard ultimately offers none of this. Thankfully, it’s not quite as bad as Star Trek: Discovery but the more episodes that tick by, the more Picard struggles to stand out next to so many other, better, Star Trek offerings. Given what we’ve learnt this season and the Mass Effect-esque apocalyptic prophecy now hanging over this, those die-hard Trekkies are likely going to end up feeling pretty sour over Picard overall....

With poor characterisation, wooden acting and an incoherent, convoluted story, its hard to recommend this one even to the most die hard sci-fi fan. The concept itself is a nice idea in theory and you can see what angle they were going for -an action-driven time travel flick with frenetic action and a jumping perspective between the past and future but Stasis doesn’t hit the mark. The story starts in 2067....

The USB Drive Stranger returns for another episode that dives deeper into the political controversy surrounding both the police and the prosecution. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from this episode, it’s that neither side are coming out of this looking very clean. Episode 6 of Stranger Season 2 begins with Yeo-Jin heading to the police station and clutching that infamous envelope tightly. She decides against opening it and as we cut forward, we return to that same red herring stand-off we ended the previous episode with....

Don’t Move We begin episode 2 of Sweet Home with a look at 19 year old Hyun-Soo back at home and with scars up his arm seemingly hinting at self-harming. He continues to play video games and ignores his Mother’s pleas to head out for a family trip. His behaviour is clearly dividing the family but as they argue in the car, his Father begins bleeding profusely from the nose and passes out, subsequently crashing the car....
