With Freddie standing on the outskirts, we’re introduced to Sonny, Mom and the rest of this ragtag group. Sitting next to the fire, Rose and Anna confirm they’re heading north – which is the same direction this group of survivors are going too. They’ve been communicating with pilots via a radio scanner upstairs, and they know there’s a supply drop nearby....

Episode 3 of Blood and Water begins with Puleng managing to get out of her situation thanks to Wade hiding the birth certificate. She heads home for the evening, just as Wade sends her a song he’s been working on. As the two continue to connect, Fikile adds her on social media. Unfortunately Puleng’s newfound fame is short-lived when she heads into school and sees that the damning newspaper article has been published....

In The Dirt Episode 6 of Brave New World begins with a commercial being made out of Bernard’s punch to the face. This gives him a good amount of publicity but it’s John who really makes the most of his platform. What begins as an enthusiastic reenactment with many engaged faces around him soon turns to a chore and he becomes numb after repeating it so many times. Bernard and John discuss this apathy to the parties on the train that evening and eventually John convinces himself that all he needs to do is switch the story up a bit to keep things feeling fresh....

Monogamy & Futility: Part 1 Episode 7 of Brave New World sees trouble brewing in paradise. John and Lenina continue to sleep with one another in private, hiding this from Bernard and the rest of New London. Only, it goes deeper than casual sex and as she hands over his music player, he tells her he loves her. Given she’s unfamiliar with this term, she eventually kisses him back and says the same....

Floyd After an opening scene involving a dead cat outside, we begin episode 2 of Briarpatch with Jake phoning Allegra and checking up on her while she tends to a concussion. After getting dressed, Allegra speaks to AD and asks him to collect up some documents, intent on finding out just what’s going on and more convinced than ever that her sister didn’t live at that address. The bomb blast has caused more than a concussion it seems too, as Allegra wrestles with fragments of her sister bleeding into her mind....

While the series begins with some lighthearted humour and appears to be going in one direction, the series suddenly and abruptly turns things upside down to produce a memorable and thought provoking first season....

The Chess Game & The Ice Cream Truck Episode 2 of Season 3 starts with Sabrina talking to Lucifer and demanding to speak to Nick. He finally regains consciousness and she promises to get her father out of him soon. However, as she leaves she accidentally disrupts the circle of salt with her boot. The next day, after Sabrina’s cheer-leading practice, Lilith appears and tells her she needs to start her training as Queen of Hell....

Set during World War 2, ‘Chosen’ is an unfocused, drab affair that should be an exciting action movie given its premise but misses the mark in a major way. I’m not sure whether its the way the story never feels like it gets going until well into an hour of this 100 minute war film or just a lack of polish and direction but unfortunately ‘Chosen’ is not a film to remember....

You Hold It With Your Fingers Episode 5 of Chosen begins in the past with Emma’s mum given a new identity. She’d granted the name of Lykke and with papers in hand, she heads off to make a new life for herself. In the present, Emma learns that this small orb is linked to a spaceship. In order to uncover more of the truth, Lukas urges Emma to drive him up to the sawmill....

The Fall Episode 9 of Cobra Kai begins with us finally, FINALLY arriving at the All Valley Karate Championship. Dojos all across the Valley have been training hard, and now Eagle Fang, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are ready to duke it out. At the tourny, Johnny recognizes that Diaz is not in the right headspace. Following the drama at junior prom, Johnny tells him to focus. And focus they do. All the different athletes get in their positions and begin competing....

Buried Secrets Episode 3 of Criminal Germany begins with a woman in the interview room with multiple scars on her hands and humming to herself. While Schultz discusses the next course of action with the other Inspector, the woman throws a chair at the glass. Schultz then heads into the room and shows her a map with pictures of girls dotted around it. He takes one and asks her where Melanie Weiss is buried....

Elsewhere, Garcia is having the time of her life at her online dance party. JJ is trying to balance her family life with work. William thinks that their marriage is suffering from both their tough work hours. JJ promises to make it up to him and they agree they need to talk to figure out how to get a better balance. At the daily brief, JJ notifies them that they might have a serial killer in their backyard....

Penultimate Progress Episode 9 of Daybreak sees us return to California Love again as the familiar opening segment returns. This time Principal Burr takes to the loud-speakers in the post-apocalyptic world, prompting Turbo to charge into the office, intent on taking him out. Despite slamming an axe into his chest, Principal Burr thwarts Turbo’s threat and knocks him to the ground. His reign now over, Mona tells Turbo he’s done as he lies on the ground; our maniacal Principal is now in control of the jocks and ragtag students accompanying them....

Green Episode 5 of Dealer begins with Tony in handcuffs, questioned over what he’s doing with the gang. Franck and Thomas film from afar as Tony is told to give the crooked cops Steve. If he can do that then they’ll be square and forget about this indiscretion. The officers take the drugs Tony has stashed, and take off. On the back of this, Tony talks to Jess and explains that his record deal is going to change everything....

Purposefully pulling at the heartstrings, Retrograde by Dearest is an impactful album, a record evolving on every listen, and its lyrical content cuts deep. This band certainly knows they have the words to tell insightful stories. They do so on this release too, channeling their anger and their hopes and dreams, but nothing is easy when the world is in such a mess. Love tries to trigger hope here, but there is a lack of light....
