Crazy Master Episode 2 of Alchemy of Souls begins 20 years ago. After Do-Hwa has given birth, Jang Gang takes the child to the foot of the royal palace. Through his watery powers, he blocks the child’s gate of energy. This will prevent his son from being able to perform any spells for the entirety of his life. That son, once he comes of age, promises to find someone to open his gate of energy and bring those powers back....

Breathing Techniques Episode 3 of Alchemy of Souls picks up in the past with Jang Gang deciding to turn away from his child. Despite risking his life to save Uk, Jang Gang decides the boy should have his energy sealed away. Given how important he is, this is a way of keeping him subdued. He claims Uk’s father is a “dead man” and that Uk’s birth never should have happened. In the present, Uk takes Mu-Deok back to the palace and takes responsibility for the poisoning....

The Blood Parasite Conundrum Episode 7 of Alchemy of Souls season 2 starts with Jang-uk showing up like a boss, ready to lay some Cheonbugwan smackdown. He brandishes his sword and makes swift work of the soldiers, holding Yeom-su up by the throat and learning about the blood parasite. Word reaches Jin-mu of what’s happening too and he’s taken aback. Elsewhere, Songrim also learns what’s happening, with Park-jin realizing that Uk has essentially saved Yul and taken him to Sejukwon....

A warm and tender drama Ali & Ava is the latest film from British director Clio Barnard. As with two of her previous titles, The Arbor and The Selfish Giant, this is set on a Bradford housing estate, and like those films, this isn’t always easy to watch. That’s not to say the film isn’t a good one, however. Barnard is a fine director and storyteller so you shouldn’t skip out on this....

Before we get there though, the episode begins with Jin-Gyeom standing before the old man and promising to kill his older self. And just like that Jin-Gyeom disappears and awakens in a tunnel with a gun. We’re back in 2010 and Jin-Gyeom hurries up to a phone booth in order to phone home and warn Sun-Young....

Usagi gives him some words of encouragement though before leaving the scene. Meanwhile, Saori Shibuki realizes she’s been in this game for 5 days now and with her visa looking set to expire, she needs to make a move – and quickly. She bemoans her newfound life and reflects on how she had to sleep with her superiors just to get a promotion....

The Infection Spreads Episode 1 of All of Us Are Dead begins with a kid called Jin-Soo bullied at school. With rain pouring down and under the neon sign of a cross, Jin-Soo hits back and snaps. With contorting limbs, he launches himself at the other kids… and tumbles down to his death. Or at least, it should be his death. He’s still alive and taken into hospital with serious injuries....
