Horsing Around Horse Girl is an utterly bizarre film. On the surface, it feels very art-house and abstract in its style and ideas, whilst also presenting a wonderful character-driven examination of a socially awkward woman spiraling, just as things begin to look up in her life. The blending of genres is ultimately what makes this film such an endearing watch though and Alison Brie’s performance carries the film through some of the slower segments before the plot takes over and progresses through to a very strange final act that’s certainly left open to interpretation....

Jealousy Hotel Del Luna returns for episode 6, a well written dose of Korean drama that effortlessly weaves a jealous Man-Wol into the narrative and feels destined to end in tears at the end. After escorting a random ghost to the Hotel Del Luna, Chan Sung is cornered by Man-Wol, determined to eat out and have a delicious dish of webfoot octopus. Of course, this is simply an excuse to spend more time with Chan whom she grows jealous of thanks to finding out he has a girlfriend....

A surprisingly fun & vibrant flick How I Became A Super Hero is a French superhero flick that shares more than a few similarities to last year’s Project Power. The plots between these two movies are virtually the same but with one distinct difference – this one feels a lot more fun. Unlike 2020’s moody flick that struggled with its tone and ideas, How I Became A Super Hero oozes charisma and leans into its wit and quirkiness to great effect....

Two Stories, One Joined Path Inspired by true events and set in the heart of a racially divided America in 1965, I Am The Night is a methodically paced, character driven drama. While there’s not much in the way of plot development during this opening episode, what we do get is a good amount of set-up and characterisation leading to a final 10 minutes that set the stage for what’s to come....

In fact, when you look at the split between audience and critic scores on this one, it almost feels like Charlie Kaufman’s latest thriller is designed specifically for those seeking higher meaning and wanting to pick holes and dissect every roll of film stitched together to form this picture....

Part comedy, part satire of the film-industry the movie was a glitzy, intriguing affair; this TV mini-series essentially tracks that same journey, with more time to flesh out characters and subplots....

A directionless Rom-Com Big on Laughs and Not Much Else If you’ve ever wondered how a film could turn cancer into a comedic subject, look no further. Irreplaceable You is Netflix’s latest romantic comedy that gravitates around the perfect couple Abbie (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) and Sam (Michiel Huisman) receiving the worst news – Abbie has life threatening cancer and may well die. With minimal characterisation for Sam and a questionable plot following this bombshell announcement, Irreplaceable You lacks a decisive vision for much of the 90 minute run time....

The End of The Witch The penultimate chapter of this emotional drama brings the final confrontation with Hui-Jae and the trio as we finally learn why the evil woman killed the brothers’ mother. It has been an emotional roller coaster so far and the characters have had some excellent development throughout the show Episode 15 of It’s Okay To Not Be Okay starts with Hui-Jae talking to Sang-Tae as he drinks from a bottle....

Birth of the “Green” Episode 19 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean begins with the Speedwagon Foundation’s doctors watching over Jotaro Kujo. They note that Jotaro’s awakened several times but ends up falling asleep for another twenty-four hours. This is all thanks to the Star Platinum disc reinserted into his body. Jotaro has obtained some knowledge but has no recollection of his family or himself. The doctors argue with his entire memory wiped out, he has no reason to live....

The Black Death Episode 1 of Joseon Exorcist begins with numerous strange creatures standing in ominous rows. In order to protect Joseon from future attacks, soldiers head in and try to find the undead leader. Only by removing the head can they stop this plague of undead minions. Unfortunately it’s too late as a scream pierces the air. A priest speaks Latin, trying in vain to protect the soldiers, as they fight valiantly throughout the night....

New Evidence We begin episode 15 of Kairos in the past with Seo-Jin recovering in hospital. Yujung Constructions promise to pay his tuition fees as he finds out the truth about his Father being killed. Back in the present-day October timeline, Chairman Yu stands over Jin-Ho and tells him to wake up. He’s sedated and clearly struggling but when they leave, Seo-Jin and Gun-Wook show and tell him to hang in there as Ji-A is doing well....

One Minute To Talk Episode 2 of Kairos begins with Ae-Ri finishing her phone call with a bombshell reveal – it’s actually August not September and he’s got the dates wrong on the missing poster. As she hangs up Seo-Jin looks on in confusion, visibly confused at her words. Ae-Ri heads to the diner and sits by the window waiting for Seo-Jin. As she does, Seo-Jin shows up in the same booth but obviously they’re a month apart and aren’t able to see one another....

Glittery Divisive Comedy I’ve said it before but when it comes to stand-up comedy, this is one of the most difficult mediums to review. What one person finds funny another may not. With this in mind then, I have to admit – I didn’t like Glitter Room that much. Technically at least, the stand-up is actually written quite well, with a good amount of interaction with the audience and some beautifully presented jokes that manage to tie everything together cohesively at the end....

Mu-Myung Choi After a few episodes of building up the characters and political allegiances at work, King Maker: The Change Of Destiny slows down slightly for an hour of drama taking place in Hanyang. With Chun-Joong going by an alias to protect his identity and his fortune telling skills put to good use, the episode does well to introduce new characters and set the scene for the drama to follow....

Parents Of The Year Episode 11 of L.U.C.A.: The Beginning starts at the church, with Ji-O waltzing inside. With electricity crackling, the cultists all drop to their knees and begin worshipping him. Goo-Reum meanwhile, fights her way past guards with the baby strapped to her back. She then heads outside and on the run. Unfortunately she’s stopped by a number of guards who render her escape futile. Ji-O shows up though, prompting all the guards to stand around and watch as they talk....
