Slowly But Surely They Drew Their Plans Against Us The War Of The Worlds has the potential to be a really solid drama. There’s some nice visual effects dotted throughout the series and constant jumps between the future and present are well placed, even if they do suck the dramatic tension from some scenes. Unfortunately, some sneaky political agenda-driven writing holds this back from being a better title and the story changes do little to enhance the drama in the show....

Day 6 Episode 4 of Them begins with Henry leaving his house and finding numerous dolls strung up with nooses on their front porch. A jack-in-the-box holds an unnerving black faced clown inside. We’re on day 6 of this move from Hell, and for now Henry manages to keep a calm composure as he drives the girls to school. Lucky meanwhile, storms straight over to Betty’s house and confronts her about the recent antagonizing....

Fails To Conjure Up Any Scares Despite Some Promising Ideas When it comes to B-Movies in the horror genre, Thir13en Ghosts has all the elements to be a great film but fails to really nail the most important aspect – the horror. Imaginative ghost designs coupled with an authentic yet surprisingly creepy glass house do a good job injecting some originality into the film but this supernatural flick fails to really inject the right level of scares needed to put off its promising premise....

150 minutes is nothing compared to the 18 days that the Thai football team and their coach spent in the flooded Tham Luang cave and unlike the poor souls trapped inside those dark confines, I had snacks at hand, a comfortable sofa to lie back on, and a pause button to tap every time I needed a break from their trauma. We can all forget how fortunate we are. It’s easy to grumble about a movie’s long-running time or another superficial inconvenience but when we compare our lives to those of the people who genuinely have something to complain about (such as the confined boys at the heart of this tale), we should take a step back and be thankful for what we have available to us....

Tree 2 Episode 5 of Tomorrow begins with a look at Na-Young and Woo-Jin through the years. A slick opening sequence sees the pair grow closer together. Eventually Na-Young presents a set of relationship rings and asks if she can “be the one to make the flowers on his tree bloom.” It’s a big commitment, and she promises not to waver. As the pair hug it out, they begin their happy romance....

Broker Episode 8 of Tomorrow begins Jun-Woong recounting the previous case he worked on, writing up his report and realizing that the nitrogen cannisters in Ye-Na’s room were bought online. But from who? That’s something Jun-Woong is curious about too and he heads out to see Ms Shin, talking in a coffee shop. She mentions how she posted on social media but then someone reached out and contacted her. Whoever this is operates out of a van and they only work in cryptocurrency too....

Life Begins Let’s get the elephant in the room out the way first. This is not, nor will it ever be, as good as the original Utopia. No remake could surpass that which already puts this on a difficult slope to ascend. Those unfamiliar with Channel 4’s 2013 series should definitely check that one out but there’s just enough here to enjoy if you can go in with an open mind....

The Senator and Luther announce BludSub; a revolutionary new product to help with the infection. At the same time, Michael begins to act erratically....

The Last Daughter Of Uppsala Episode 6 of Vikings: Valhalla begins with Freydis returning to the healer’s hut. Yrsa is dead, hung from the ceiling by the hunters. Freyis is livid and finds the man outside, sitting around a circle of severed heads. The thing is, she walks right into an ambush as numerous riders surround her. Brandishing a sword from Uppsala, we’re introduced to Jarl Kare properly, who stops his troops as he mentions “The Old One”....

The Love Pentagon The love pentagon continues in Was It Love as all the men start becoming more desperate towards Ae-Jeong. The story remains a little slow this time around though until the final act which injects some life into this one. Episode 8 of Was It Love? starts in the past with Ryu-Jin meeting Ae-Jeong for the first time in college. He narrates that he was the first one to fall in love with her and the first to have his heart broken....

When Night Comes Episode 7 of We Children From Bahnhof Zoo begins with Christiane arriving at rehab. She’s sharing a room with other addicts too, and they’re immediately encouraged to head to the sauna. This is obviously therapeutic to sweat away her sins. Although Christiane does get involved in all the different activities, she eventually slips into old habits and return home. In fact, she heads over to see Benno. He’s not there, instead Benno’s angry Father answers the door and confirms his son has called in sick to work and taken off to Prague with Michi....

This villain or antihero must be defeated before the protagonist can accomplish his or her objective. Ever since the beginning of time, people have celebrated the goodness in the world.
