Netflix’s new spy drama Treason raised hopes pre-release with its high calibre creative personnel. Charlie Cox, Ciaran Hinds, and Olga Kurylenko in front of the camera, and Matt Charman (“Bridge of Spies”) behind it seemed an enticing combination. A couple of episodes into the five-part series and all that optimism is blown out the water. If you were looking forward to a taut, intelligent, clever spy caper, there’s none of that here....

Other People’s Tears Are Only Water Episode 1 of Truth Be Told Season 2 sees us return to a brand new case for Poppy to unravel. A clunky bit of exposition gets us up to scratch, with Micah claiming she’ a “discarded child”, talking to herself about how she was prey for nearly two decades. Getting dressed up, she heads off and sleeps in her car. Fresh off the Warren case, Poppy Parnell is hot stuff in town but that doesn’t stop her reminiscing on old times with the others at her usual hangout spot....

Dowager Plays Puppet Master Episode 15 of Under the Queen’s Umbrella starts with Physician Kwon and Hwa-Ryeong face to face once more. Kwon points out that revenge was never in his mind to begin with, he simply wanted to find out what happened to his brother. Unfortunately, he used the Crown Prince as a test, knowing he was suffering from Hyeolheogwol and believing it was destiny to Uuse him as a test subject....

Soldiers Of Love Episode 3 of Undercover Season 2 sees Polly arrive at the campsite and asking around about the recent police case. She pretends to be a student doing a research paper at school but struggles to get answers from the patrons there. Sharon meanwhile heads over and visits Bob, telling him that she and Patrick are worried about Bob’s inclusion on this case. They agree that they should try a different approach – one that doesn’t include Bob on the team....

The Cave Episode 1 of Undone Season 2 starts with Alma where we left her at the end of season 1, up at the cave and determined to uncover the mystery surrounding her missing father. Becca heads off and phones Camila, letting her know that Alma is okay and they’ll get her help soon. As for Alma though, the cave starts crackling with a brilliant blue light, prompting her to head inside to find out what’s going on....

Mexico Episode 3 of Undone Season 2 starts with everything appearing to fall apart in this reality. Camila ends up buying a plane ticket to go to Mexico, but Jacob insists that his wife is just heading off on a family trip. Mum isn’t picking up her phone either, and now Becca is convinced that their mother is in trouble. Alma and Becca phone their family over in Mexico, intending to find out where she is....

From sci-fi dystopians like 3% to thrillers like Good Morning, Veronica, there’s certainly a lot of variety coming out of South America to whet the appetite....

Doughnut Episode 4 of V-Wars begins with Claire berating the team for their efforts in letting Fayne slip through their fingers. Luther meanwhile, convinces her to let him try and track Fayne down alone. With 24 hours to do so, the race against time is on as the infection continues to spread. While Michael continues to run, Bobby decides to try and track him down after another of their group is killed by the vampires....

Despite its interesting premise and a great performance by Jonah Hill, the film can never quite muster up the goods to be anything more than a passable film. Aside from Hill’s character, the rest of the cast feel paper thin and never really develop beyond the initial impressions we base them on. Its tonally confused too; jumping from dark comedy to drama to thriller and back again means its lack of focus spills over to most aspects of this flick....

By freeing themselves from the clutches of repetitiveness and replication, punk band WAXX instils belief into their highly charged songs. Hailing from Australia, the act prevail fiercely here and their music is unconventional but staggeringly different, which makes them original. Being original is a hard task. Fighting against the status quo is also an extreme test, and WAXX is on their way and gravitating towards glowing hope and a resurgence....

Waiting in line outside a luxury watch seller in the early morning, Na-eun plans to get her hands on a specific model that Jun-hyeong has been coveting. When the store finally opens, the model isn’t even available. Na-eun plans to come every day if she must, wanting to give Jun-hyeong a surprise that equals the wedding gifts she received. Meanwhile, Jun-hyeong is anxious over the text from Hui-seon that totalled the price of his family’s gifts....

Zappity Doo Last year, What We Do In The Shadows was one of the best comedies of the year and brought with it,a uniquely charming wit and colourful array of characters. From werewolves and a vampiric acid trip through to Guillermo’s unique character arc, Shadows mixed this creativity really well with a strong dose of humour. As the second season bares its fangs, it looks to follow suit with this opening episode....

The Cloak Of Duplication Episode 2 of What We Do In The Shadows Season 3 begins with Nandor and Nadja deciding to “share power” for the time being as joint Supreme Leaders. Only, that’s a hot topic here, as both Nadja and Nandor have their own ideas for seizing power for themselves. As The Guide continues to show the gang the ropes, the big talking point here is the Chamber of Curiosities....

The Confrontation We begin episode 13 of When I Was Most Beautiful with Carry and Ye-Ji coming face to face. As they do, Hwan realizes what’s going on and quickly phones Jin, telling him to get to Carry’s house immediately. Ye-Ji coolly stands her ground and mentions how Jin doesn’t love her and she has no confidence. After Carry tells her that she and Jin have been together physically, she drops to her knees and asks Ye-Ji to let her have Jin....

He’s Back Episode 8 of When I Was The Most Beautiful begins with Hwan and Ye-Ji discussing their changing fates. Ye-Ji asks him to return to the guy he once was. Her rejection has turned Hwan bitter and cold. He eventually tells her they’re not a family and encourages her to leave. Speaking of family, Ye-Ji runs into more issues with her Mother, who manages to get Il-Hwa to cough up the funds as promised....

Character Building After last week’s reveal, When the Camellia Blooms returns with another new episode, this time centred more on Dongbaek and Yong-Sik’s developing relationship rather than the threat of the Joker. The episode starts with Jong Ryeol about to drive away before Hyang-Mi stops him to ask what he’s really doing there. She takes him inside to see Dongbaek who’s busy talking to Yong-Sik about the writing on the wall....

Unfortunately, their trip is an eventful one. Not only do they run into a pair of racist rednecks but they also find themselves in the crosshairs of a mysterious killer after they discover a dead body in a motel room. If you have seen the movie, you might be interested in a sequel. But will we get to see Brenda and her family again or is a sequel unlikely to happen?...
