Renewed Or Cancelled?
Navillera is the latest tvN Korean drama to land on Netflix. Released weekly, Navillera has now finished its run and can be found in its entirety on the streaming platform. This 12 episode poignant drama is a real rollercoaster ride of emotion, with lots of highs and lows along the way.
What is Navillera about?
Navillera is a healing drama about two lost souls. Sim Deok-Chool is a recently-retired 70 year old who has always had dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. However, he was forced to give up these dreams to support his growing family. After being given the diagnosis of early-onset dementia, Deok-Chool makes a big decision to pursue his lifelong dream. Helping him out is Lee Chae-Rok, a tortured soul who’s incredibly talented at ballet. With his Father arrested and his family stuck going through hard times, Chae-Rok’s passion and love of ballet soon turns to one of necessity. Thanks to Deok-Chool’s impassioned love of dancing, he slowly starts to rekindle those lost flames of passion. Has Navillera been renewed for season 2?
At the time of writing, tvN and Netflix have not made an official announcement about the future of Navillera. It’s not uncommon for most Korean dramas to round out their stories with a single season, however the recent westernization of these dramas has led to a lot more renewals that do buck that trend. SBS’s Penthouse, TV Chosun’s Love ft. Marriage & Divorce and tvN’s Stranger are the more prolific examples of this. Although no announcement has been officially made, given the way Navillera finishes its story, we predict that there will not be a second season. If this changes, we’ll be sure to update this page. The ratings have been pretty steady for Navillera overall though, hovering between 2.8 and 4% for most of the season according to Nielsen nationwide ratings. Critics and audience scores have been steady too, with the highest rating occurring during episode 12, where the show boasted highs of 3.6%.
