The Dropout Episode 3 shows Elizabeth struggling to maintain her web of deceit. When Ana Arriolia found out that she tested her non-operational device on actual cancer patients, the entire design team quit Theranos. The board was ready to push Elizabeth out–that is, until she came up with the idea to bring Sunny in as COO. He’ll be acting as her unofficial “adult supervision” to appease board members.
